Gold worth Rs 1.62 Crore Smuggling

MUMBAI: The air intelligence unit of the Customs department on Monday arrested a passenger for smuggling gold worth Rs 1.62 crore. The passenger, Raj Jadhav, had arrived from Paris. He had seven gold bars each weighing 1 kg.
It was during a routine examination that customs officials suspected Jadhav. He had concealed 4 gold bars in the soles of his shoes while the other three were in the pockets of his underpants.
Customs officials said Jadhav has admitted he is a carrier for a commission. The gold was purchased in Dubai, taken to London and then to Paris.
